July 22nd - Good Times!
Chris Palumbo, Roz and David fished in tough conditions to manage 11 solid trout and 4 big redfish. We should have had more, but quite a few trout and reds pulled loose and broke a line or two. None-the-less, Chris and his crew are always awesome to fish with. Plum and Calcasieu Brew Assassins were our go-to baits.
July 23rd - Early Limits of Trout then Limits of Redfish!
Danny and Toby were in from near Llano for their annual fishing trip with me. I was a little worried because of the forecasted 10 - 20 mph SW wind, but for once the forecast was wrong in the right direction. We got a late start and didn't start fishing until almost 7:30 AM. Danny hooked up on his first cast and it was pretty steady from there. They had their limits of trout to 23 inches by 8:30 then we went searching for redfish. The stars aligned for us today and they caught limits of reds from 26.75 to 28 inches along with Toby's 30.5 incher which was tagged and retained. Slicks in 6 to 7.5 feet of water over shell did the trick. Our best baits for trout were chartreuse and plum / chartreuse Assassins and Texas Roach Sea Shads and gold spoons for the reds. Danny and Toby are always a hoot.
July 24th - Limits at High Noon!
Clay, Joey and George scraped up their 30 trout with me this morning in a nagging westerly wind. We popped a hand full early then it really kicked in around 10:30 AM. The bites were very soft, but they did a great job piecing together their limits to 23 inches by noon. Limetreuse was the color of choice once again.
