June 5th - After cancelling yesterday because of stiff southwest winds we were hoping the weather would cooperate a little more today. Well, it did for the most part. It blew a little early, but finally got right and we caught 'em pretty good. Don, Mike and Dave kept their 30 trout and Dave turned one 25 incher loose. Dave always finds a way to trick the big ones. Everything was caught on Bass Assassins while drifting slicks in 7 to 9 feet of water over shell.

June 6th - Buzzy, Charlie and Bill started off pretty strong, but the wind became a problem and forced a move. It died down after a while and allowed us to go where we needed to go. They finished their limits in the last 3 drifts at our final stop. Limetreuse and Glow Assassin Sea Shads worked well while casting to slicks over deep shell.

June 7th - Cancelled because of high NE winds in the A.M.

June 8th - Jeremy joined me for his second of 4 on-the-water learning trips today. The northeast wind was brutal to start the morning, but Jeremy found a way to fool a couple of trout before we moved on to a protected area. The wind finally cooperated and we were able to hit a bunch of different areas where he can take his family in the future. He ended up keeping 8 trout to 4.5 pounds and letting one 25.5 inch trout go. Plum and Pearl Bass Assassins caught all of our fish. We fished shallow reefs, deep reefs and structure in Lower Galveston Bay, Galveston Bay Proper and East Bay.

June 9th - Blain, Warren, Russell and Coy battled windy and stormy conditions early to catch a few keeper trout until the conditions improved. Once everything settled they were able to scrape up 35 trout to 5.25 pounds before calling it quits around 3:30 PM. Russell caught the 5.25 pounder. She was hooked deep in the gills so we had to keep her. It was a long day, but we basically lost the whole first half of the day because of high winds and storms. I'm just glad we could make something happen on a day when none of us really expected much. Plum, Limetreuse, Chartreuse and Glow Assassins thrown into slicks in 6 to 8 feet of water did the trick.

Good Fishin'!
