The past 6 days have been a little spotty because of the nagging west and southwest winds, but we've found a way to make it work on days we didn't cancel. The trout and redfish have been very reliable on the right days when the winds and tides were cooperative. Limetreuse, Pumpkinseed and Red Shad Assassins have produced the best and we're still getting a pretty decent topwater bite when conditions allow. Deep shell and structure have been consistent for trout. We've worked some birds as a back-up plan on some days as well. We're catching quality redfish out of open water schools and along leeward grassy shorelines.

July 29th - Haley Matthews and his two buddies (Stewart & Tony) fished in fairly stiff WNW winds early only scraping up 9 trout to 24 inches. A wicked storm came across the bay and forced us to make about a 10 mile run. There, we worked two schools of reds to hold us over until the storm subsided. Everything settled down and the fish lit up really well after that. They caught a total of 50 - 60 keepers keeping their limits of trout and reds. What a day!

July 30th - Jeremy and his son Blaine met me at the ramp at noon to catch the outgoing tide. The plan worked well as we got on cooperative trout at our first stop. They had their limits of keeper trout in the box within an hour and a half. We went looking for some of the schools of redfish that we've been seeing, but the wind was so bad by then it didn't pan out. Blaine caught the lion share of the fish which was cool to watch. That kid is a machine and he's probably going to win a lot of tournaments when he gets older.

July 31st - West winds got us again, but Jason, Kent and Fritz still tricked a few really good fish. The lack of tide movement didn't help our chances much either. Soft bites contributed to almost as many fish lost as caught. They ended their day with 12 trout to 24 inches and 6 reds to 8.25 pounds.

August 1st - I met Scott and Wayne at the boat ramp only to watch the wind gust to 23 mph out of the southwest. We decided against it and went home. The wind died down some later, but fishing still wasn't that great after talking to a few buddies that went. We would have scraped up a few, but it just wasn't worth it.

August 2nd - We had pretty much the same conditions as the day before, but Joe and his 8 year old son Joe Ruben still wanted to give it a shot. We could only fish 3 different areas because of the stiff winds and muddy water. Their total for the morning was 7 trout to 24 inches and 3 upper slot redfish to 8 lbs. Little Joe Ruben caught all three of the reds. They were his first ever using artificials.

August 3rd - Southwest winds gusting to 18 knots caused us to cancel again.
