The past 5 days have been up and down because of some unsettled weather. When the wind cooperates and the storms aren't everywhere we're doing pretty good. I've fished many parts of the Galveston Bay Complex recently and everywhere seems to be about the same. If you're on the fish when they're hungry then the results are rewarding. If not, then the day becomes a grind. The fish aren't showing themselves like they have been (less slicks) other than birds over shrimp. We've only been fishing birds as a backup. If I can't find slicks then we're blind drifting areas where the fish have been (which I do not care for). Bass Assassins are by far the best producer with more coming on topwaters on some days. Rain and shorter days have cooled the water by 5 or 6 degrees so a lot of our trout and reds are being caught in 4 to 6 foot depths as opposed to 6 to 12 feet.

August 22nd - Scott, Wayne and Buzzy decided they were going fishing despite a very stiff ENE wind. We never even tried to fish for trout. The redfish were somewhat cooperative with the guys keeping their limits up to 27 inches. Two specks were thrown in the mix for good measure.

August - 23rd - Despite a late start, Mother Nature gave Tanner, Haley and Lath about a 4 hour window for them to catch their limits of really good trout before more storms and wind moved in.

August 24th - Dustin, James and George talked me into going around 11 AM. The weather was really bad with storms all over and winds gusting to almost 30 mph. We made 4 drifts and caught one 18 inch speck, a throwback and some sand trout before turning around and coming in. Bad decision!

August 25th - Cancelled a 3 boat trip because of severe storms and high winds. Smart choice!

August 26th - Ted, Rick and George waited until 8:30 AM for the winds to subside. Ended up being a beautiful morning despite the weak tides. They scraped up 22 trout to 23 inches, a 5 lb. sheepshead and some sand trout before heading in at 3 PM. Note: Only 21 trout pictured because one of the specks was underneath the sheepy in the cooler when we took pictures. Good day!
