I fished with Dean Hammon and his close friends, Johnny, Scott, and Chris today who were all in from the Kansas City area. We didn't start fishing until almost 8:30 AM because of thunderstorms. The bite proved to be very tough due to the lack of tide movement. The fish were there because they were popping slicks all over the place. Finally, when the tide started turning to go out, the mullet started surfacing all around us and we hooked up with about 8 trout in a matter of minutes only to actually land five of them. Then, just like that, the bait went down and the trout quit biting. I moved around thinking maybe we lost the school, but that wasn't the case. Those fish only fed for about 15 minutes. We left there and hit 2 or 3 other areas only to catch small fish before calling it a day around 12:30. I spoke with many other guides that had the same results or worse. It wasn't a great day for numbers, but everyone still had a great time.
