After cancelling 5 days in a row because of rain, frontal-driven winds and dirty water we got a little taste of how good it can be when we're granted a reprieve from the wind.

April 18th - Shane Martin's very thoughtful wife got him a surprise fishing trip for his birthday. He was joined by his two good friends Chris White and Chris Martinez. The forecast was inaccurate, but we're used to that by now. Stiff northeast winds had the water rough and filthy everywhere we went. After five hours of suffering the elements and only landing one keeper trout and one big redfish, the wind finally started to subside. I made another long run to where I knew some fish were and it paid off. We worked several slicks to box 21 trout to 3 pounds before heading in at 4:30 with the fish still biting. Shane didn't know it at the time, but I had to get him in so he wouldn't miss his surprise 40th birthday party. It was a fun day despite having to work for them a little. Everything came on Glow Bass Assassins and Plum Maniac Mullets.

April 19th - Larry and Kyle struck gold in Galveston Bay. With dead calm winds and decent tide movement it was hard to do anything wrong. They had their limits of trout by 10:30 AM then caught and released at least a dozen more up to 7.5 pounds. We caught fish at every single stop before heading in around 2:30 with big smiles on our faces. Red Shad Assassins seemed to work the best, but we caught them on 4 or 5 other colors as well. Kyle even caught 4 trout to 5 lbs. on a watermelon / fire tail plastic bass worm. He released all of them. It's amazing how great fishing can be when the weather cooperates.

It looks like we'll be giving the fish a break for at least a couple of days with this cool front bringing wind gusts with it of 30 mph.

Thanks for Reading,

Capt. Steve
